Mmk…another day and I’m feeling good, if only the damn pollen count would drop a bit I might be able to see the screen or avoid covering it with my mucus. Anyways I started my day by going to see, guess who. Mr. Magers, he was surprised to see me and so was I because of course there was something that needed to be changed on the flyers. He wanted me to fit 2 on 1 page so he could hand them out at lunch. Ok no problem…but first I need to take out some lettering and resize them and CRAP! They don’t fit…GREAT. New plan, redesign the whole thing WOOHOO… so I took the text and resized and moved it around staggering it on the page and filled the awkward space at the top with the logo for the mountain club. Resized the 25 hours of community service that I strategically placed at the top in bold so kids passing by who are juniors and haven’t done a single hour of community service would be able to jump on this opportunity. I was one of those kids and always looking for a way out and here it was for them…they should feel lucky although I bet none of them took it. Hey, guess who I saw dancing around the caffateria passing out 25 hours of community service to all the kids attempting to eat their lunches. Yup you guessed it…Mr. Magers man is he a fun guy great to have him as my Frisbee coach…sometimes.

#6
Today was another GREAT day… came in thinking I was all ready to start a new project, maybe even something for me and Mr. Magers decided that the flyers just were not working out. I was not disappointed or aggravated because I knew whatever it was it would be minor. Because we had done these flyers like 4 times already. He just wanted me to move some things around on the page so that it would not feel so “cluttered” to him. Honestly I thought it was a little cluttered myself but it had all the info he wanted put into a more artistic eye catching layout. I’m having a hard time not working in color because I cannot contrast and fade those colors. I feel like its limiting my ability to be the creator of perfection. I have realized that it is actually helping my ability to work with color because with the absence of color you can envision what might be there and use grays, black and white to portray those colors. I am having a good time making these flyers because I can see them hanging all over the school and even though nobody knows I did them I know that its my work on the walls. It feels like people are actually taking notice and it feels good to be recognized when you have been the kid who sits in the back of the class your whole high school career. Guess I’m just expressing myself through my art.

Finally, all the pictured…that I have are in place still missing 5 but I am sure they will pop up in my Email soon or else well… I guess I could do them I mean hey, it is 3hrs of art community service for each one and man do I need it. Anyways now im moving on to placing the text, I hope all the Spanish sentences are correct because I will not be able to fix them if they aren’t. making the text boxes wasn’t that hard but making it so each sentence fit perfectly across the page in both English and Spanish made it way more difficult because each sentence was a different length so some ended up looking weird because they were skinny while the other was fat, Looks as though the book is coming to gather rather easily now. Well it’s about time… Mr. magers wanted me to see him today about the Appalachian mountain trail flyer he wants me to change the date on it and show him how he can change it in the future. I didn’t go and see him today but I did change the flyer into a handout so he could hand them out at lunch, I’m sure all the kids will love that. I also started creating a table tent that he can skillfully place on each and every table in the cafeteria. Only flaw is that I know (being a knowledgeable teenager) that all of those “table tents” will become paper airplanes or some other type of recycled projectile only to be tossed clear across the room.

4/26/10
Georgeanne the owner of sea meadow gifts wanted me to resize the banner I created for her this wasn’t that big of a problem because all I needed to do was create a new template with the measurements she gave me then open the old one in the new template and resize to fit the shorter wider box. This ended up being a good thing because it allowed me to add the beach part of the seascape I was creating making it more realistic and more to the liking of the client.
I also started making the template for the alphabet book I needed to put together for the National Art Honor Society. They all drew pictures and wrote a Spanish sentence according to the letter they were given, if you didn’t know Spanish you were told a sentence. It took me a while to figure out how to make “master pages” and multiple of them in Adobe InDesign…but I managed to figure it out after a loooong time and ms.epp ignoring me FOREVER!!! In all fairness she was dealing with sixth graders who are ridiculously rambunctious for the whole hour…anyways after I made the 2 master pages and dropped them into place 28 times to account for all the letters. I started filling the pages with the letters resizing and making each letter hollow so it could be colored in because it is supposed to be a coloring book.
After finishing that tedious task I went home…what a day
